Unique Activities in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most popular national parks in Uganda due to the medley wonders it provides to tourists. The park spans a variety  of many districts such as Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi and Rukunjiri. The park is approximately 250 km south west of Kampala Ugandas capital city. The park is re known park and it derives its name after the need of honoring the Queens visit in Uganda. Adventuring may seem to be like  dream but make it come true when you happen to visit the amazing Queen Elizabeth national park.

There are various factors that make Queen Elizabeth national park a very unique/outstanding park from other national parks though the country holds 10 national parks as presented in this article.

Chimpanzee tracking.

This refers to the process of hiking dense forest in search for chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking is one of the best activities to carry out in Uganda . it starts with a briefing at the park head quarters.

After the briefing you will then go to the forest with a group of people to track the chimpanzees. When you happen to encounter with the chimpanzees you are only given 1 hour to spend with them.

The one hour includes you taking photos of the chimps, see how they feed, hunt and how they spend they behave with the rest while in the forest.

Though the highest number of chimpanzees is mainly known to be found in Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park also resides these wonderful primates. Chimpanzee trekking in Queen Elizabeth national  park is done from Kyambura gorge.

The Kyambura gorge is also referred to as the valley of apes. This is a very out standing destination for chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzee trekking from this area is another experience since it exposes you to these wonderful apes.. The experience is done in two shifts that is in the morning and late afternoon.

This is one of those main factors that make queen Elizabeth national park to be unique than other national parks since they are only two parks that provide chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.

Crater lakes.

The beauty of crater lakes is another main factor that also makes Queen Elizabeth national park to be extra ordinary than other parks.

The park has many crater lakes such as Katwe crater lakes, Bunyaruguru crater fields, Ndali kasenda craters and many others. Different activities can be carried out from these crater lakes such as hiking, nature walks, biking, and sometimes boating.

The Katwe crater lakes.

They are located north of Mweya peninsula and its where salt is mined from. You will also be able to see a lot of en route wild animals like  buffalos, elephants, warthogs and many more . when you happen to make a visit at these craters lakes you will be able to learn how salt is mined, how is packed and many more. You will also learn more about Kitagata salt lakes.

Bunyaruguru craters.

They are located in the south of lake George and they contain both saline and fresh water crater lakes.

The Bunyaruguru craters are sometimes referred to as Kichwamba craters. Most of the craters are filled with vegetations and are also a home to lake Nkugute. This place is worth exploring and it is also a home to the famous lake Nkuruba which offers tourists with chances of swimming and viewing of the scenic views of the lake.

Ndali Kasenda craters.

Ndali Kasenda craters are among the densest crater fields in Uganda. These crater lakes can even be explored on foot since they are just 10km along the area. It is from this area where the famous top of the world is located.

As you hike these crater lakes you will be able to see clear views of the popular mountain Rwenzori and some tea plantations.

The tree climbing lions.

This is one of those factors that completely make Queen Elizabeth national park more out standing than the other national parks.

The tree climbing lions are spotted in lshasha sector. You will be able to view the lions up in the fig trees and acacia trees.

The rich eco system.

Queen Elizabeth national park is among those national parks in Uganda  with vast eco systems.

The park has over 5 vegetation zones and they include savanna grasslands, acacia woodland, humid forests, wetland craters and many others.

The park is also rich with a high number of bird species which is approximately over 600 and also 95 mammal species. The park is completely a medley of wonders because of its rich wildlife.

Big five animals.

a lot of tourists who love to visit Africa have high chances of seeing the most iconic African species that are always talked about.

The big five animals include elephants, lions, and many others. Uganda is one of those countries in Africa which will help you see the big five animals. These big five animals can be seen in Queen Elizabeth national park when you happen to do a boat cruise or a game drive.

Some of the notable animals to spot include lions, leopards, elephants, Ugandan Kob, topi, hyenas and many more.

Best Time For Visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth national park can be visited any time/all year round though it has got the best time for visiting it. The year has two seasons that is the dry and wet season.

The dry season is the appropriate time for visiting since the roads are not slippery and many activities can be carried out easily. Last but not during the dry season the vegetations are too lush and clear and this makes an extremely perfect place for spotting animals.

However different clients may decide to visit during the wet season and will also have another experience to tell. The only benefit of visiting during the wet season is that some prices of things are reduced.

There are many accommodation places around queen Elizabeth national park. The accommodation places are classified in to luxury, mid-range and budget means. Some of them include.
