Detailed itinerary for 11 days Mgahinga gorilla trek Masai mara Amboseli

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon meeting up with your guide at the airport, he will welcome you then give you a briefing about your 11 days Mgahinga gorilla trek, Masai mara and Amboseli safari. The tour commences with a city tour covering all areas of interest such as the city’s major sites, like the Genocide Memorials, National Museums, Inema Arts Center, neighborhood eateries, among others. With an en route lunch. After the city tour you will check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast our company guide will pick you up from your lodge in Kigali and embark on you Journey to Mgahinga National Park situated in the southwestern parts of Uganda where you will do gorilla trekking. Mgahinga is home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The drive to Mgahinga from Kigali takes around 3-4 hours depending on the traffic. This drive gives you a chance to experience the breathtaking views of Rwanda the land of a Thousand hills. You will have an en route lunch before reaching your destination. After the long drive you will check in your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Forest National Park and Batwa community tour

After waking up and having breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters to receive a briefing on how to conduct yourself around mountain gorillas. After which you will be split up into groups of eight for each Gorilla family, and you will spend 3- 5 hours tracking for your Gorilla Group in the lush forest under the guidance of a trained ranger guide. You will enjoy the breathtaking views of the surroundings, birds, and primates as they play, jump among the tree branches. You will finally meet the mountain gorillas and spend an hour taking pictures and get a chance to see them play as well as grooming each other. After the trek you will go back to you lodge for lunch and relaxing.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking

You will wake up very early the morning for breakfast and the embark on your journey to Mgahinga National Park to trek for the golden monkey in the lush forest. The process of trekking for golden monkeys is the same as gorilla trekking. When you are done with your trek, you will head back to the lodge for lunch, and an overnight stay

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali and fly to Nairobi

You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast after which our company guide will transfer you to Kigali where you will have lunch. After lunch you will be taken to Kigali International airport for your flight to Nairobi. When you reach at Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be picked up by our company guide who will take you to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Masai Mara

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and embark on your journey to Masai Mara National Reserve. You will have lunch and then head for your first game drive in the reserve. The park is home to over 450 different bird species, mammals and the big five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino). After you will check in to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Game drive in Masai Mara

After breakfast you will head out for your game drive in Masai Mara. You will have a picnic lunch. The park is famous for hosting the big five, Scavengers, Predators. You can also witness the great wildebeest migration however this depends on your time for the visit. During your drive you will have a chance to see the big cats, antelopes and a number of bird species. After this long day in Masai Mara you will go to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Game drive and Hot air balloon tour

You will wake up very early in the morning and have breakfast at your lodge. And our company guide will take you to the starting point for the hot air balloon ride. This tour gives you a chance to witness the magical sunrise, vast savannah and a great view of the wildlife and birds in the Masai Mara plains. After the balloon tour you will have another game drive in the Masai Mara plains and a picnic lunch. After the game drive you will go to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast you will check out of your lodge and embark on your journey to Amboseli National Park, and you will have an en route lunch. The park is famous for its stunning eye-catching views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the large herds of elephants. When you reach your lodge, you will check in and prepare for the evening game drive. During this drive you will catch a glimpse of the sunset, wildlife and the stunning views of the park.

Day 10: Game drive Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you will bring a packed lunch and head to the Amboseli National Park for the game drive. With stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will spend the entire day in the park looking for Amboseli’s well-known inhabitants, such as the renowned predators and their adversaries, such as zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and hippos. After the game drive you will return to the lodge for dinner, rest, and a night’s stay.

Day 11: Transfer to Nairobi.

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and be taken to the airport for your trip back home. Or the driver guide will take you to the hotel when you get in Nairobi so you can rest, eat dinner, and spend the night based on your flight itinerary.
