With a sum of 4 days, you will have the best gorilla trekking experience of Congo’s low land gorilla in their natural habitat of Kahuzi Biega national park found in the Eastern side of DRC. The park not only offers lowland gorilla trekking experiences but also mountain gorillas, which makes it an exceptional destination. On this safari, you will also visit Lake Kivu for a boat cruise experience.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival, pickup and transfer to Kigali.

Upon your landing at Kigali International airport in Rwanda, be ready to meet up with a driver guide who will enlighten you about the safari. You will then be driven to your booked lodge where you will check in at the booked lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Bukavu, DRC.

Begin this day with morning breakfast and then depart from the lodge To Bukavu using Butare route with a short Kigali city tour. You will visit Kigali Genocide memorial site, Kings Palace in Nyanza. You will proceed through Nyungwe forest and arrive at Lake Kivu for a short boat ride where you will see different bird species. Following this, you will connect to Bukavu where you will dine and slumber at the booked lodge.

Day 3: Lowland Congo gorilla trekking.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing and registration about low land gorillas. Commence the quest after being allocated a gorilla family, which will take you about between 2- 4 hours. Once found, you will be given an hour to take pictures and record videos as you watch their behaviors. Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy the rest of the evening by taking part with a waterfall walk to Tsibati. Dinner and overnight when you return.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali and departure.

Enjoy breakfast in the morning and then check out of the lodge for a transfer back to Kigali with lunch along the way. You will then proceed to the airport to catch up with your flight back home.
