Detailed itinerary: Rwanda Primates And Lake Kivu Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our safari guide who will enlighten you about the safari.  You will then set off the engine for a short city tour around Kigali to the genocides, markets and then have lunch. After this, you will transfer to Volcanoes national park in Musanze where you will check in at the booked lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Ibywachu cultural visit.

Have a morning breakfast and then transfer to Kinigi, the parks headquarters for briefing and registration. You will be allocated a family to trek in groups of 8 and given a ranger to lead you to the forest. This will take you about 5 hours to find them and once you do, you will be given 1 hour to be with them as you take pictures and record videos. Return to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for an evening visit to the Ibywachu villages. Dinner and slumber at the lodge when you return

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu

This is yet another day to enjoy Rwanda’s primates in their native habitats.  After breakfast, you will transfer to the parks head offices for briefing about the golden monkeys. Proceed to the jungle and commence your quest. Seeing these blue monkey subspecies as they feed, jump and once found will be a great experience never to be forgotten. Transfer back to the lodge for lunch, prepare for a check out, and then move to the next destination which is Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, you will check in and then spend the rest of the day relaxing as you wait for dinner and slumber.

Day 4: Transfer from Gisenyi to Kigali

Enjoy morning breakfast and embark on a boat ride on Lake Kivu to the fishing villages as you explore the islands. Return to the lodge for lunch and then meet the driver to set off back to Kigali. This marks the end of our safari.
