7 Days Rwanda Safari (2 Treks and Lake Kivu)

For anyone looking for the best experience with the gorillas, you may consider 2 treks in two different countries in the gorilla Parks. Both Mgahinga and Volcanoes are perfect destinations for gorillas and they give you a clear or great compulsion between the land of a thousand hills (Rwanda) and the Country gifted by Nature(Uganda). Meeting the locals will make you feel that its not about the Gorillas only, but also kind and welcoming people as well as rich culture. This trip will also give you a chance to enjoy a relaxed boat cruise or canoeing on the twin Lakes of lake Bulera and Lake Ruhondo which are a walk away from the Volcanoes National Park.
Day 1: Kigali City Tour
In the morning, you will be met by your safari driver guide to start your City Tour. This tour will take you to Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre found in Gisozi, Ntarama Genocide, Camp Kigali, and other places including local markets and Historical places. Enjoy interacting with the local people and photography for great memories. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kigali to Mgahinga National Park
Have breakfast in the morning to start your day’s journey. You will transfer to Mgahinga National Park, enjoying the rolling Hills, outstanding sceneries, and photography. Dinner and Overnight at your Lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga and Cultural Tour

Have breakfast very early in the morning and get ready for your day’s activity. Your driver guide will pick you up from you Lodge and transfer you to the briefing point inside the National Park to learn about how to conduct yourself and interact with the endangered gorillas in the wild. Find out in advance which sector you will be doing and prepare yourself physically and mentally. The ranger guides will then lead you for the unique adventure hiking in search of the gorillas in their natural habitat. You will see the Gentle Giants and spend up to 1 hour with them before you start your descent back to meet your guide. The experience in this jungle and meeting these giant creatures will stay with you for life. After the trek, head to the lodge and if time permits, go for another adventure on the cultural trail. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Twin Lake Boat Cruise and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast at Leisure in the morning and thereafter, you will drive to the Twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo, for a boat cruise or Canoeing, viewing several Islands with unique geographic formation feature including the punishment island in the heart of Luhondo lake. The boat cruise offers one of the best photographic moments. Drive to your Lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Have yourself an early breakfast, to drive to the Park headquarters for briefing. Find out in advance which sector you will be trekking to prepare yourself physically and mentally. The ranger guides will then lead you for the unique adventure hiking in search of the gorillas in their natural habitat. Trail in the foot paths of Gorillas
You will see the Gentle Giants and spend up to 1 hour with them before you start your descent back to meet your guide. You can choose to relax after the trek or be driven to Ib’wachu community, to enjoy cultural entertainment which includes traditional dances, poems, making local beer, bow and spear practice among others. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Gisenyi.
Golden Monkey in Volcanoes National Park
Your breakfast will be served early before your Safari guide driving you to the briefing point for your day’s activity. Trekking Golden Monkeys is another exciting activity. The endangered Golden Monkeys have got a shade of colors and live in groups led by the Alpha male. Golden monkeys are normally more active than the gorillas and require a continuous follow they feed on the delicious bamboo shoots. After the trek, transfer back to Gisenyi for Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Boat Cruise on Lake Kivu
Wake up at Leisure to have breakfast, then go for a boat cruise on Lake Kivu. This is an exciting excursion which gives you an opportunity to explore the beauty of the largest fresh water Lake in Rwanda. You will be able to spot different birds, scenic and photographic views. Transfer to Kigali which marks the end of your safari.
