Detailed Itinerary: 3 Days Lowland Gorilla Trekking

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bukavu near Kahuzi Biega national park.

Upon your arrival at Kigali International airport, meet up with our fully experienced safari drivers you will enlighten you about the safari. Set off the engine to Bukavu close to Kahuzi Biega national park in Congo as you head to the south via Cyangugu border.  This will take you about 7 hours to reach the park with views of the rolling hills of Rwanda and enroute lunch. Upon arrival, check in at the booked lodge for dinner and slumber.

Meal plan: Full board.

Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking

Have morning breakfast from the lodge and then transfer to the park headquarters for briefing and registration about lowland gorilla trekking in the East of Congo.  You will then be assigned a gorilla family to trek from which you will proceed to the jungle. Finding these gorillas will take you about 4 hours with an hour to be with them once found.

Having completed your quest, you will then transfer to the lodge for lunch and refreshments. In the evening, set out for a visit the town of Bukavu. Expect to see the Congolese market places and shops and then drive to Mbayo tea estate. Dinner and slumber at the lodge when you return.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

Enjoy a morning breakfast and check out of the lodge to transfer back to Kigali, which will take you about 7 hours with enroute lunch. This long journey will not bore you as you will make stop overs at remarkable landmarks along the way. When you arrive in Kigali, you will transfer either to your advised lodge or to the airport for your departure flight back home. End of the safari.
