Detailed Itinerary of the 18 Days Uganda Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Arrival to Hotel

When you arrive at the Entebbe International Airport you are picked by our company driver guide who transfers you to hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight at Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 2: Transfer to Mountain Elgon

Enjoy early breakfast then transfer to the Eastern part of Uganda at Mountain Elgon National Park. En-route visit the stunning  Ssezibwa Falls for a brief cultural encounter. Later proceed to Mbale town situated at the bottom of Mountain Elgon. Along the journey watch the tea and sugarcane plantations, lush green forests and grasslands. Lunch is in Mbale then after you continue to Sipi village. Dinner and Overnight at Sipi River Lodge.

Day 3: Explore Mountain Elgon

Today enjoy breakfast then hike to explore Mountain Elgon Forest Exploration Center for short briefing. Take on any of the 2 hikes one goes via the Chebonet falls, Kapkwai cave, the talking tree and a spectacular viewpoint of the low land areas and the other follows through the vertical cliffs of ridge and many cascading waterfalls. After exploring Mountain Elgon, proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Sipi River Lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Jinja

Proceed to Jinja Town after having your breakfast then later embark on journey which offers you en-route have lunch. Reach in the late afternoon and relax at the hotel for  Dinner and Overnight. Jinja Nile Resort.

Day 5: White Water Rafting at River Nile

After breakfast transfer to the banks of River Nile where you are briefed on the conduct while water rafting along the vigorous rapids of River Nile. You embark on your white water rafting adventure which takes you a period of 2 to 5 hours. After whitewater rafting proceed to Kampala for Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 6: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Enjoy early breakfast then transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.  You trek the Rhinos for 1 and a half hours in their natural vegetation habitat. When you meet them, stay in their presence taking photos to keep. After Rhino Trekking have lunch then embark on journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Day 7: Game drive and Boat Cruise on River Nile

Wake up very early today have breakfast then transfer to the Park to enjoy a Game Drive along the various tracks watching wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The wildlife animals you watch include; Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda kob, hartebeest and waterbucks, oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, shy sitatunga, bush duiker, warthog and bush pig, lions, leopards and spotted hyenas. After Game Drive, break off for lunch then continue for Boat Cruise along the Victoria Nile where you watch various hippos and crocodiles beneath the waters. Dinner and Overnight at Fort Murchison Lodge.

Day 8: Top of the falls & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Have breakfast then transfer to the top of the falls and here you watch the rainbow descend into the sharp gorge where the Murchison Falls pour water. While here, you watch various bird species then later break off for lunch. After lunch, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. En-route watch the terrain then later reach the park and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Tracking and Guided Nature walk

Get up early have breakfast then transfer to the Kibale Park headquarters for short briefing on conduct around the Chimpanzees then later in groups of 8 with park ranger, proceed to Kanyanchu Visitor’s Center to enter the forest to trek the Chimpanzees. Trek the Chimpanzees for 2 to 4 hours and on finding them, an hour is allowed in their presence taking photos to keep. After Chimpanzee Tracking, return to lodge and experience a guided nature walk around the green vegetation or relax, have Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 10: Game drive and boat cruise at Kazinga Channel

Have breakfast then transfer for Game Drive along different tracks watching wildlife wander and the animals you watch include; lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck etc. After Game Drive have lunch then continue on Boat Cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you watch abundant schools of hippo, crocodiles under the water and wildlife along the shores. After Boat Cruise, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Bush Lodge.

Day 11: Game Drive then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy breakfast then embark on en-route Game Drive which offers you views of various wildlife animals like; Lions, Elephants, Topis, Leopards, Bush bucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, Uganda Kobs, etc.  After a Game Drive, proceed on journey to Lake Bunyonyi and en-route have lunch, beautiful views of terrain vegetation, birds etc. On reaching the Lake, check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 12: Canoeing along Lake Bunyonyi then to Bwindi Forest

Go canoeing today along Lake Bunyonyi with a guide who introduces you to the various Islands and communities which live in the surrounding hills. After your canoeing adventure, have lunch and transfer to Bwindi Forest. When you reach here, check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma Lodge.

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Wake up very early have breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing on conduct around the Gorillas. Later in groups of 8 with park ranger, proceed to enter the forest to trek the Gorillas for 3-5 hours and when you meet them, an hour is allowed to stay in their presence taking various photos. After Gorilla Trekking, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma Lodge.

Day 14: Guided Cultural Walk

Have breakfast then transfer on guided nature walk for 3-5 hours through farms and villages of the Bafumbira and Bakiga tribes. Continue through the local communities visiting the traditional herbalists who uses traditional medicine to treat illnesses. You learn about how local beer is brewed using local ways. Later proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 15: En-route Game Drive & Boat Cruise along Lake Mburo

Today transfer to Lake Mburo National Park a journey that offers you lunch en-route then later when you reach the Park embark on en-route Game Drive to the shores of Lake mburo. On arrival here, enjoy Boat Cruise along the Lake Mburo watching hippos, crocodiles beneath water then wildlife along the shores. After Cruise, check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 16: Transfer to Kampala

Wake up have breakfast then with all your luggage embark on transfer to Kampala. En-route watch the green terrain, birds, visit the Equator for Photos as well as have lunch. After a while you reach Kampala and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 17: Transfer to Ngamba Island

When finished with taking breakfast, embark on transfer to the stunning Ngamba Island located within Lake Victoria. You reach the docking area at Water Front beach and here you board a Boat to transfer you to Ngamba Island for an hour and after a while traversing the Equator you reach the Island. Continue to spend time with the chimpanzees through feeding and viewing them. When done with this return to the shores where you get in your 4×4 car to Cassia Lodge Buziga for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 18: Departure to Entebbe

Have breakfast then will your luggage embark on departure to Entebbe International Airport to board flight back home.
