Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport or your Hotel
You will be welcomed by your professional driver-guide who will meet and greet. If time allows, enjoy a brief guided city tour of Kigali, offering insight into Rwanda’s culture, history, and modern lifestyle.
Then, depart for Volcanoes National Park (approximately 2.5 – 3 hours), enjoying scenic views of rolling hills and vibrant countryside. Arrive at your lodge, check in, and relax as you prepare for your gorilla trekking experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before your gorilla trekking adventure. You will be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek through the forest. The trek may take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location.
Once you encounter the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat, watching their behavior, interactions, and gentle presence is a truly unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. This community initiative showcases traditional Rwandan life through music, dance, storytelling, and demonstrations such as traditional medicine and local brewing techniques. Originally formed to provide alternative livelihoods for former poachers, the village plays an important role in conservation and community empowerment.

Day 3: Transfer to Mgahinga & Batwa Cultural Trail
After breakfast, depart for Uganda via the Cyanika border and continue to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This scenic drive takes you through beautiful highland landscapes, terraced hills, and rural communities, offering an authentic glimpse into life in the region. Upon arrival, check in at your accommodation. Dinner and Overnight stay.
In the afternoon, embark on the Batwa Cultural Trail one of the most authentic cultural experiences in East Africa. The Batwa are the original inhabitants of the Virunga forests. For centuries, they lived as hunter-gatherers, fully dependent on the forest for food, medicine, and shelter. Their deep spiritual connection to nature shaped their traditions and way of life. However, with the establishment of national parks to protect endangered wildlife, the Batwa were displaced from their ancestral lands.
During this guided experience, Batwa elders and guides share their knowledge and traditions. You will learn how they hunted using traditional methods, gathered medicinal plants, made fire from natural materials, and lived sustainably within the forest. Through storytelling, songs, and demonstrations, they offer a powerful insight into their history and resilience. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking & Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before your golden monkey tracking experience. Golden monkeys are rare, energetic primates found in the bamboo forests of Mgahinga. Known for their vibrant golden fur and playful nature, they offer a lively and engaging wildlife encounter that perfectly complements your gorilla trekking experience.
After the trek, return to the lodge for refreshment before beginning your journey back to Kigali, crossing the border into Rwanda. Enjoy scenic views along the way, with optional stops for photography.
You will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable safari. End of Tour.
