Detailed Itinerary of the 13 Days (BEST) Uganda Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Entebbe and Hotel
On arrival at Entebbe Airport, you are welcomed and shortly briefed by a driver guide who drives you to your Hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.
Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park
On this Day have breakfast then transfer to the stunning Murchison Falls National Park located before Pakwach in the North West of Uganda. Follow via the Kampala -Gulu Highway to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary then later to Murchison Falls National Park. When you reach the Park enjoy an en-route Game Drive then proceed to check-in your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Fort Murchison Lodge.
Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Cruise
Get up early today have breakfast then transfer for a Game Drive along the various tracks in the park watching wildlife wander in their habitat. Enjoy lunch then proceed for Boat Cruise at the Victoria Nile. Here watch hippos and crocodiles beneath the waters as well as other wildlife animals along the banks for 3 hours. You reach the Bottom of the falls where you watch the rainbow descending into the sharp waters. Dinner and Overnight at Fort Murchison Lodge.
Day 4: Top of the falls then to Kibale Forest National Park
Today have breakfast then transfer to the top of Murchison Falls where you take numerous photos to keep for memories then after embark on journey to the stunning Kibale Forest National Park. En-route have lunch then you reach the Park and check-in your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
On this Day have breakfast and go to the park headquarters for short briefing on conduct around the chimpanzees then after in groups of 8 with a park ranger guide go to Kanyachu Visitor’s center to enter the forest to track the Chimpanzees for 2- 4 hours according to current location in the forest.
When you arrive in the presence of the Chimpanzees take many photos to keep. After Chimpanzee Tracking, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 6: Game drive & boat cruise at Kazinga
Today have early breakfast then continue to Park for a Game Drive along various tracks watching wildlife wander around their habitat. The Wildlife animals you watch include; lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck etc. After enjoy lunch then go for Boat Cruise along the Kazinga Channel a water are that separates Lake George ad Lake Edward. You view schools of hippo and crocodiles, birds. After the Cruise return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Enganzi Lodge
Day 7: Drive to Bwindi Forest National Park
After breakfast move to the Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the tree climbing lions lounging in the tree branches while keeping a close eye on herds of Uganda kob, their favorite prey. It is also home to many buffaloes, elephants as well as the rare shoebill.
Have lunch then proceed to the South to Bwindi forest National Park and en-route watch bamboo forest, lunch, western rift valley. After a while you reach the park and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Buhoma community Rest camp.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Get up very early have your breakfast at 6:30 am then later proceed to the park headquarters for briefing on the code conduct and after in groups of 8 with a lead guide, enter the forest to trek the Gorillas for a period of 4-5 hours depending on location of these in the forest. After proceed on trek and when you meet them an hour is allowed in their presence taking photos to keep with you. After the Gorilla Trek, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 9: Transfer to Kisoro town
..You can decide to have this Best of Uganda Wildlife Safari day to relax and chill back – recollect your previous gorilla encounter, share stories and more. Or chose to take another chance at gorilla trekking after an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers at 7:45 am for a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 2-8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest. You will have one hour to stay with these intelligent, majestic, and gentle giants that share over 90% of their genetic material with humans. Buhoma community Rest camp.
Day 10: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park via Igongo Cultural Centre
You will have breakfast and travel to Lake Mburo National Park centered on a series of swamp-fringed lakes rich in bird life while its green acacia woodland harbors wildlife like the Zebra, Warthog, Elands, Impala among others. Enroute, you will visit the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch and to learn about the unique history and culture of the Ankole people who pride in keeping cattle. You will be treated to some Best of Uganda Wildlife Safari traditional dances at this centre after which you will be driven to the lodge of your booking for Dinner and overnight. Day 11: Nature walk and Game drive in the park and Boat cruise on Lake Mburo
You will after breakfast go for a tour of the park on foot with an experienced game ranger who will explain to you which animals have left behind footprints and droppings and how long ago. Mburo is one of the two parks in Uganda where it is permitted to go for a tour on foot. You will after the nature walk go for a game drive and return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a 2 hour boat cruise that will get you quite close to the water animals that include crocodiles, hippos and a variety of birds. Day 12: Travel to Kampala
After breakfast you will set off for Kampala. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. The entire stretch of this journey will take 6-7 hours arriving in Kampala in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight. Anderita Beach Hotel
Day 13: Visit to the chimp sanctuary on Ngamba Island & Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the pier on Lake Victoria pier for you to take a boat cruise to Ngamba Island. The boat cruise will be for one hour. You will arrive at the chimpanzee sanctuary and be briefed about the sanctuary after which you will proceed to spend time with the chimps as they feed, relax and do acrobatic swings in the tree branches. Later you will go for a nature walk on the island with the young chimps and cruise back to Entebbe. Depending on the timing of your departure flight you will either be transferred to the Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
