Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
On day one, arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Nairobi.
Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Following breakfast, pick up from your hotel and drive through the Masai land to Mt. Kilimanjaro plains, arriving at Amboseli National Park. Have lunch, then head to the wilderness for a game drive in search of the African elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, and plenty of birdlife.
Day 3: Explore Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, get ready to explore Amboseli National Park with safari drives in the morning and the evening, then relax at the Lodge with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National Park is home to massive herds Elephants, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and occasional rhinos.
Day 4: Aberdare Ranges
Leave Amboseli, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way as you transfer to the Aberdares, where you’ll spend the night in a charming Tree Hotel or lodge overlooking floodlit waterholes visited by a variety of animals and birds. Aberdare mountain ranges shelter around 40 species of wildlife hidden within their dense forests and misty moorlands. The area is more so famed for its rhino sanctuary.
Day 5: Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast, transfer to Samburu National Park with an afternoon game drive to enjoy a sundowner. Dinner will be served at your lodge. Samburu is a striking landscape of lava plains, red earth, thorny scrub, dry riverbeds, volcanic rock formations, and rugged hills. Following the Masai Mara, it is fast becoming one of Kenya’s most celebrated safari destinations.
Day 6: Samburu National Reserve
Explore Samburu National Reserve for the whole day with morning and afternoon game drives, or opt for additional lodge activities and cultural visits to Samburu villages. Samburu National Reserve has vast landscapes and reliable water sources that attract plenty of wildlife, including rare species such as Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, and oryx. Elephants and crocodiles are easily spotted, while bird lovers can look out for weaverbirds and the powerful martial eagle. Occasional leopard sightings make Samburu an even more captivating safari destination.
Day 7: Mount Kenya
Start the day with an early morning game drive in Samburu before driving towards Mount Kenya region. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the lodge’s facilities before exploring Mount Kenya National Park or visiting the nearby Sweet waters Reserve, a sanctuary for chimpanzees.
Day 8: Lake Baringo via Lake Bogoria
Travel through Nyahururu (Thomson) Falls to the steaming Lake Bogoria, known for its hot springs, geysers, and vast flocks of flamingos, before continuing to the scenic Lake Baringo for an evening bird walk. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. Nyahururu Falls, formed by the Ewaso Narok River, drop 72 meters into a lush forested gorge, while Lake Baringo—fringed with papyrus and acacia—hosts hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species, making it a true birdwatcher’s paradise.
Day 9: Nakuru National Park
In the morning, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Baringo in search of hippos, crocodiles, and fish eagles. After lunch, we drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon game drive. Covering 180 square kilometers, the park is home to warthogs, buffaloes, waterbucks, reedbucks, leopards, and both white and black rhinos, while its 400-plus bird species make it a haven for bird lovers.
Day 10: Masai Mara National Reserve
Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve, passing through the scenic Great Rift Valley and arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, we set out for a thrilling game drive before returning to enjoy a sundowner and dinner at the lodge.
Covering 1,510 square kilometers of sweeping savannahs and lush riverine forests, the Mara offers classic African wilderness at its finest. The reserve teems with wildlife, including Masai giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, warthogs, hyenas, and wildebeests. Predators such as lions are commonly seen lounging or hunting, while cheetahs and leopards, though more elusive, are frequently spotted by the keen-eyed traveler.
Day 11-12: Masai Mara National Reserve
Spend the next two days enjoying early morning and late afternoon game drives, the best times to spot wildlife at its most active. The highlight of the Mara is the great wildebeest migration between July and October, when millions of animals cross from the Serengeti in search of fresh grazing. Optional experiences include a breathtaking hot air balloon safari or a cultural visit to Maasai villages to learn about their traditions and dances. You can also enjoy lodge activities or simply relax and capture the Mara’s unforgettable orange sunsets with a sundowner.
Day 13: Back to Nairobi
After one more game drive in the early morning, leave for Nairobi and getting there in the late afternoon.
Day 14: Departure
Drive to the airport for your departure flight back home leaving Kenya with special African memories.
