Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation
Chimpanzee habituation is the process of acclimating chimpanzees to human presence in anticipation of chimpanzee trekking. During chimpanzee habituation, a cohort of four individuals, comprising researchers and rangers with trackers, monitors a substantial group of chimpanzees for a duration of two to three years. This excursion offers travelers half a day in proximity to chimpanzees, allowing observation of their daily routines, commencing at 6:30 am to witness their departure from the nest.
On the habituation day, a substantial meal will be provided early in the morning, after which you will proceed to the forest for chimpanzee habituation. The activity will commence at 6:30 AM from the location where chimpanzees constructed their nest the prior day or where they were last observed, allowing participants to witness the chimpanzees departing their nests and engaging in daily activities such as nest construction, nursing, foraging, hunting, and establishing new nests. Participants are advised to bring a packed lunch for this excursion.
The optimal period for chimpanzee habituation in Kibale National Park is during the rainy season, as they typically retreat deeper into the forest during the dry season. This activity incurs a fee of 300 USD.
Following this excursion, you will return to the lodge in the afternoon for repose and an overnight accommodation. During your visit to Kibale National Park, you may engage in nature walks, chimpanzee trekking, hiking, Bigodi swamp hikes, birdwatching, and crater lakes tours.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Rushaga
A delectable breakfast will be provided before you commence your picturesque trip to Rushaga in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, during which you will appreciate the lush scenery, tea plantations, and diverse wildlife along the way. A lunch stop will occur at Mbarara before continuing to Rushaga in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Travel duration: 7 hours

Breakfast will be provided early in the morning to facilitate your departure into the forest for the gorilla habituation process, as the specific gorilla family selected for habituation is determined the prior evening by your driver-guide based on the credentials you submitted, and a briefing is conducted the day before the habituation.

A gorilla habituation adventure in Uganda will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, particularly in the Rushaga area, the sole location in Uganda that conducts gorilla habituation. Gorillas in the morning are located according on their previous day’s sightings or by tracking their trails. Similar to chimpanzee habituation, gorilla habituation requires a duration of 2-3 years and is conducted in groups of four individuals, comprising researchers and rangers. You are permitted four hours to observe the gorillas as they engage in daily routines, including feeding, constructing new nests, and foraging, among others. Following this excursion, you will return to the resort for lunch and afternoon relaxation. Dinner will be served in the evening, followed by your opportunity to rest for the night.
Day 5 Transfer to Kigali and take a flight to Arusha Tanzania
Arrive in Arusha, the commencement of your safari expedition. Upon clearing customs, you will be welcomed by your Tanzania guide and transported to your accommodation. Utilize the day to rejuvenate and recuperate from your travels. Utilize the motel facilities and consider investigating the surrounding locale. In the evening, attend a welcome supper during which your guide will outline the schedule for the forthcoming days.
